This group of pages contain a complete index of all Mines listed by Her Majesty's
Inspectors of Mines in 1896, both Coal and Miscellaneous Mines. The definition of
mines worked under the Coal Mines Regulation Act includes coal, ironstone, oil shale
and fireclay mines, whilst the definition of mines worked under the Metalliferous
Mines Regulation Act includes metalliferous ores, stones and other minerals.
