The unusually named "Harrybecca" mine has recently been the subject of a detailed
study into firesetting in Derbyshire Mines by John Barnatt& Terry Worthington. Their
findings are published in "Mining History" Volume 16, No. 3
Harrybecca Mine was originally worked for lead, and later re-worked for fluorspar. As unusual
as the name, there are sections of the mine that were not modified by the fluorspar workings, and
evidence of the old techniques of firesetting are still there to be found by the careful observer.
