On the East side of Cressbrook Dale lies Neptune Mine ("Mining History" Vol.7 No.2). The shaft
entrance is now collapsed/filled in, but access can be gained (with a Derbyshire Key) via the adit entrance,
now lined with plastic pipe. The mine is interesting not only for its flooded shafts, which
require great care in crossing, but also because of its intersection with a small amount of
natural cave passage and its location relative to the Cressbrook Dale hydrology.
The photographs presented here were taken on a PDMHS Tuesday night visit to Neptune Mine.
